DIY Halloween Costume: Popeye

Halloween is only a few weeks away and I know that kids (and adults) are trying to figure out what to be this year.  There is such a wide variety Halloween costumes making it difficult to choose.  Have you thought about making your Halloween costume this year?

A couple years ago my children told me that they wanted to be Popeye and Olive Oyl for Halloween! I thought it was the cutest idea and was SO excited to get their costumes! I started looking online and to my surprise couldn't find a single kids size costume. That got me worried because I can't sew to save my life!

With some advice from family and friends and a little creativity --- I was able to come up with their costumes and I didn't spend much money on them either!

For Popeye...

  • Shirt - $2 at a Thrift Store
  • Muscles $3 at Goodwill
  • Sailor Hat - $2 at Halloween Store
  • Felt for spinach leaves - 50 cents at Michael's
He already had the pants and boots. We painted a pipe that came with bubbles and put green construction paper over an empty paint can to make his spinach can.

I spent a total of $7.50 getting his costume ready for Halloween!!!

Be sure to check out DIY Halloween Costume: Olive Oyl too!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!
