Cooking With Kids: 20 Recipes Kids Should Know! (Book Giveaway)

I received product in exchange for my honest opinion!

My kids have been helping me in the kitchen since they were very young! At first it started out simple (helping me stir) and before we knew it, they were both prepping and cooking meals!  In fact, my son has turned out to be a pretty good cook!

If your children already help out in the kitchen, or if you aren't too sure how all of that would work - you need to check out this cookbook, 20 Recipes Kids Should Know.  This book is written and photographed my sisters who aspire to become a chef and a photographer.  The recipes are from Esme, who is only 12 years old and the photographs are by her 17 year old sister, Calista!

About the Cookbook: Whether they're helping stir cake batter or producing their own YouTube cooking channel, kids of all ages are getting increasingly busy in the kitchen. This cookbook features twenty classic recipes that are fun, healthy, adaptable, and easy to prepare. From banana bread and the perfect grilled cheese to breaded chicken and apple pie, each recipe is written in a clear, accessible style that young cooks of every level will be able to follow. The author is a young chef whose love of cooking developed from her own family's food traditions like baking popovers with her grandmother and Sunday-night pizza making. By teaching kids basic recipes that can be adapted in endless ways, this book is the perfect launching pad to finding their way around the kitchen--or launching their own cooking careers.

About the author and photographer: Esme and Calista Washburn are sisters living in New York City. Esme, who is in middle school, is an amateur chef and cooking enthusiast. She has learned everything she knows from her grandmother. Calista, a recent high school graduate and budding photographer, loves helping out in the kitchen and eating the delicious food that Esme cooks.

The recipes are easy to read and understand. The photographs are beautifully bright and make me want to try all of the recipes.   The cookbook includes an introduction that touches on safety tips, weights & measurements, cooking techniques and more.

This fun cookbook includes recipes for every meal: breakfast, lunch, appetizers, main dishes, side dishes, desserts, and more... including a delicious bread recipe!  I also love how there is a story behind each recipe, it makes it fun and personal!
I'm not going to lie... I'm an adult and I love this cookbook.  The title is 20 Recipes Kids Should Know, but they are also recipes that every adult should know! In fact, I'm going to be making that Mouthwatering Marinated Steak (on page 25) tonight for dinner!

We used to make a lot of pancakes & grilled cheeses. They were fun to make & we could make a lot of them. Google+ is no longer an active platform.

Wow, cool post. I'd like to write like this too - taking time and real hard work to make a great article... but I put things off too much and never seem to get started. Thanks though.
