Boating Safety with Sea Tow - Get Your Kids Involved!

I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Sea Tow. I received a promotional item to thank me for participating.

Growing up, I lived on the river and went floating with family and friends every summer. I've always loved the water, as fun as it is, it can also be very dangerous.  Two summers ago, my husband and I decided to purchase a boat.  We live in an area where we are surrounded by beautiful lakes, and several friends own boats as well.

As excited as we were to get a boat for our family, I'll admit that I was just as scared.  I've heard sad stories of boating accidents, and knew that we had to take the proper steps to keep our family as safe as possible, especially our children.

On a recent trip to the lake this summer to enjoy an afternoon of boating, my husband and I noticed something very cool!  There was a life jacket loaner stand near the restrooms and boat prep lanes.  We were both very impressed and know how helpful it can be.  You never know when you might accidentally leave one behind or lose it along the way.

"Thanks to grant funding from the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund, administered by the U.S. Coast Guard, the Sea Tow Foundation has distributed close to 15,000 life jackets nationwide to help make recreational boaters safer on the water."

Sea Tow is an incredible service for boaters, much like roadside assistance for drivers. Boaters select the membership level that is right for them. Boaters are able to choose from a Lake Card, Gold Card, Corporate Card, Commercial Card or Professional Mariner’s Card.

Sea Tow Membership Includes

  • 24/7 priority service
  • Towing
  • Fuel Drops
  • Jumpstarts
  • Disentangling
  • Covered Ungroundings

  • Access to expert Sea Tow captains for local knowledge, navigational assistance and more.
  • Savings and Discounts
  • Free Automated Radio Checks (where available)
  • $5000 Universal Towing Coverage (most memberships)
  • Dock-to-Dock Tows (most memberships)
  • Sea Tow has a free app available for iOS and Android phones. The app includes weather and tide information, a compass and speedometer.
A year of a Sea Tow Gold Card membership equals $0.46 a day or $169, while the Lake Card is just $119 a year!. The average cost of one tow without Sea Tow is $600+.

Get the kids involved in your next voyage with their very own checklist! Your kids will have a blast making sure the boat is equipped with the proper safety gear, that everyone is safely fitted for their life jacket and most importantly, ready for a day filled with F-U-N!

The Sea Tow Foundation for Boating Safety and Education has a website full of important information including Safety Resources, Communication information and Navigation Charts. The Sea Tow Foundation, through your donations, supplies the Life Jacket Loaner Stations so that everyone on your boat can be safe.

Do you enjoy boating with your family?

Remember to always wear your life jacket and designate a sober skipper!
