Simple Changes for A Better You!

With every new year comes new goals.  I don't make New Year resolutions, I simply promise myself to make simple life changes.  I think life changes are easier to maintain than resolutions are.  Although, it might simply be just mind over matter.  Call it what you wish, but making better choices will make for a better year.

My main focus this year is to lose weight, another 10 - 15 pounds is my goal.  In the last 7 months I've lost 56 pounds.  Simply by cutting back on my portion sizes, exercising 3 days a week and snacking better.  It really is the little things that make the biggest difference.  For example: instead of eating 3 pieces of pizza, I'm eating 1 piece of pizza and a small salad.  Instead of drinking a large soda, I'm drinking water with a slice of lemon.

I know the new year has only just begun, but I already feel better.  I feel better about how I look and it shows through my actions.  My clothes fit the best they have in years and I'm not covering myself up with baggy t-shirts and sweatshirts anymore.

I have so much more energy that it makes my life better in so many other areas.  I'm able to be more active and do more things with my two young children.  I'm not as tired throughout the day and am able to get so many more things done around the house.

What is the motivation behind my weight loss goal? It's not about the number on the scale.  My motivating factor is my children.  I want to be able to keep up with them and everything that they do.  I want to be around to watch them grow up and have children of their own.

My 12 year old son loves to run.  Last year we did a 12K race together.  My son wanted to run it, he had previously ran a 5 mile race in under 40 minutes.  I couldn't do it, not even a mile.  I want to be able to run that 12K with him this year and have him begging me to slow down.

Life is about making changes.  It's also about making the most out of every moment you have.  I pledge to make the most out of every moment.  Every moment with my children, my family and my friends.

Congrats on the weight loss!

I think that is a great reason to lose the weight. It's important that we are here for our kids and are able to keep up with them!

I'm glad that I dropped some of my extra weight too.. it really does make a difference in how you feel.

Congrats on the weight loss!! That is so inspirational to hear. I've ALWAYS struggled with losing weight. In fact, I was beginning to think I couldn't loose weight. However, I've eliminated carbs (bread, rice, noodles) & sugar from my diet and I've lost 14 pounds in 2 months. I almost cried when I stepped on the scale today. (I dont weigh myself often)

That's a very inspiring and grounded motivator! It really seems like a healthy approach to weight loss and weight maintenance. I think it also sets a good example for your children!

Our kids make us do crazy things! Really though, setting postive examples is very important including those of daily exercise and a well rounded diet. Those are the things that will follow them the rest of their lives. My family runs together and enters in occasional races from the 5K to marathon distances, its something we all enjoy.

Wow, I'm impressed ~ Thats a large weight loss and you are to be congratulated! The motivation behind my weight loss goal is to ward off adult onset diabetes. Diabetes runs in my family and took the life of my grandmother. My mom also suffered from it. I would like to break that chain.
