My ldeal Family Vacation Getaway

Family vacations have always been important to my family, from the time I was a little girl.  Even after all these years, I remember how much fun family vacations were when I was a kid.  Now, as a mother, I get to share and create those same family memories with my children.

My ideal family getaway is quite simple, anywhere together creates the ultimate getaway in my opinion.  Whether we are spending a lazy weekend at home, going camping in the great outdoors or spending a week at the Oregon Coast.  Each one of these is special in it's own way and will create lasting memories for our family.

As a kid, we would go on a drive every Sunday, all year long.  I remember we would always stop and buy snacks and drinks, then start driving.  My dad would ask us where we wanted to go... we would say, left or right and that's the way we would go.  We did that one Spring Break as well, we ended up in Chicago at the zoo.  What a long trip that was, but it was a blast!

Before I graduated high school and moved out of the house, I had been to 35 states, Canada and Mexico as a result of our amazing family road trips.  Each one of them is special and will be a part of me forever.  Making lifelong memories together as a family is one of the most important parts of childhood!  One that I'm lucky and fortunate enough to have experienced on numerous occasions.

For the past 8 summers we have gone to the Oregon Coast.  A couple of times my parents have joined us, making memories with their grandchildren.  Just the same as they did with their own children starting over 30 years ago.

Some of my most memorable childhood memories are road trips and summer vacations.  I'm going to have to be honest, I don't think that I can choose just one great family getaway.  They can all be a great adventure.  Often times we never knew where we were going or where we were going to end up.  Often times, our path was left to the toss of a coin.  Seriously!

Where is your ideal family vacation spot?
